The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), also known as UAE Labour, has announced in a statement that private company employers should pay the salaries of their employees on time. This is a reminder given the current circumstances for companies to safeguard the wages of their workers as per Ministerial Decree No. 739 of 2016 pertaining to Employee Wages and Employment Contracts.
The post from MoHRE says: We stress the importance of the private sector’s commitment to pay their employee wages through the Wage Protection System, documented per the agreement with the worker and early leave included in the temporary contract available on Smart App & Website.

MoHRE Reminds Employers to Pay on Time as per UAE Labour Law
This statement was shared on April 29, 2020 – Wednesday, highlighting that salaries paid on time is part of the employer/employee agreement.
On another note, MoHRE has also advised employers that have granted an “Early Leave” for their employees to expedite the application to avoid any delays in processing.
The Early Leave Initiative is a new agreement during the pandemic situation wherein companies are allowed to grant unpaid leaves, reduce salaries, and adjust work contracts of their employees. This is for employees who wish to go home to their home countries as the pandemic continues.
The agreement is signed via a temporary supplementary annex to the employment contract. The supplementary form/annex is available for employers via the MoHRE smart app and website.
MoHRE reinforces that need for private-sector employers to commit to paying employee wages on time, and also to document their employee’s early leave, reduction in employee wages, whether temporarily or permanently. This would maintain the rights from both parties from a business and contract perspective.
So to all employers, please fulfill your obligations to your employees, especially when it comes to the remuneration. As this affects the security of your working relationship, the productivity of your employees, and continued business.
